A Lifetime in Learning

Her career spans roles as an administrator supporting children with multiple disabilities, a classroom teacher for diverse learners, a Special Day Class instructor, and a K–12 Resource Specialist. She has worked with students across the full spectrum of abilities, including gifted learners, and even after retirement, she continued volunteering in elementary classrooms. For Susan, education has never been just a profession. It is a lifelong calling.
Today, that same commitment to inclusive, meaningful education fuels her deep interest in the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in schools. She is inspired by national efforts such as the National Academy for AI Instruction who launched in partnership with organizations including OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic, and the American Federation of Teachers, and sees these initiatives as an important step toward preparing educators for the future. Many other programs exist such as the White House Executive Orders on AI, Computer Science for All Initiative, and the National Science Foundation on AI Education.
Grounded in her belief in every learner’s potential, Susan is dedicated to helping teachers approach AI thoughtfully, ethically, and with confidence. This ensures innovation strengthens, rather than replaces the human heart of education.
